17 Mar Newport Avenue Market Provides Special Shopping Times for High-Risk Customers
In response to a request from the Council on Aging of Central Oregon,
and due to the coronavirus and its significant risk for senior citizens, Newport Avenue Market is piloting a program, beginning tomorrow morning, March 18, 2020, to provide a specific shopping window for older adults in our community, aged 65 and older, along with those at elevated risk from the coronavirus.
From 6 to 7 AM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, to start, we will be open only to older adults and those at elevated risk from the virus due to pre-existing conditions. This isolated shopping experience mirrors what is being done in other towns and countries to help keep those at high risk safer from the virus while allowing them to get the supplies they need to remain mostly at home.
Newport Ave. Market is dedicated to safely serving every member of the community. Every day, we’re exercising extreme methods to keep our customers and staff clean, wiping down all surfaces in the store every three hours with concentrations of chemical cleaners higher than those recommended by the CDC.
We will continue to be open serving all customers from 7 AM to 10 PM daily but are adding these extra hours three times a week, from 6 to 7 AM, in response to our concern for the well-being of the older adults in our community.
