Take a Look Inside Ollie’s Kitchen in Redmond, Oregon
If you’ve ever picked up a fresh salad, sandwich, or ready-to-heat meal at Newport Avenue Market or Oliver Lemon’s, you may have already enjoyed something made at Ollie’s Kitchen. This little grab-and-go spot in Redmond, Oregon, is also the central kitchen where the team prepares food for the stores in Bend, Sisters, and Terrebonne.
In this episode of Taste This, host Emily Kirk visits Ollie’s Kitchen with Lauren Redman to sample a few favorites and meet the ideas behind the menu.
Grab-and-go meals made for real life
Some days you want lunch ready now. Other days, you need dinner handled before the evening gets away from you. Ollie’s Kitchen makes food for both: ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat, and ready-to-cook options, including salads, protein bowls, sandwiches, wraps, entrées, and desserts.
Lauren starts Emily off with the Beet Retreat, a salad with spinach, sous vide beets, toasted hazelnuts, mandarin oranges, feta, and a lemon vinaigrette. Next comes the Southwest Chicken Protein Bowl, with vegetables, red quinoa, and Peruvian chicken thighs. It can be enjoyed cold or warmed up when you need a quick meal.
And then there’s the Sweet B’s BBQ Chicken Sando on a pretzel bun. As Emily discovers, the bread makes a difference.
Local ingredients and a whole lot of teamwork
The food at Ollie’s Kitchen comes from a team that loves sharing ideas. Lauren says travel often sparks new recipes, which the kitchen team then turns into something delicious for Central Oregon shoppers.
Local partners are part of the story, too. The sandwich bread comes from Sisters Bakery in Sisters, Oregon, and the shelves at Ollie’s Kitchen also feature local treats.
Of course, Emily couldn’t leave without dessert. Her final taste is Peanut Envy, a rich, peanut buttery, chocolatey brownie that Lauren suggests keeping in the fridge for a little treat later. Sharing is an option. We won’t insist.
