We live in a time of tremendous abundance, of unlimited possibilities, of heartfelt compassion. Giving, helping others, is one of the greatest collective capabilities of mankind!
November was a time to celebrate the goodness of life, a time to give thanks. December is our chance to simply give.
Last year, our remarkable customers donated $12,668.24 to Food for February. Your willingness to give, give, give continues to amaze us!
We matched your contributions dollar for dollar, for a total donation of $25,336.48. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide:
- 952 gallons of milk
- 4,896 eggs
- 300 lbs. of quality lunchmeats
- 240 lbs. of cheese
These items, among others, make up seven months worth of ingredients for Family Kitchen; providing over 3,000 meals for our Central Oregon community.
This year? We want to go big. Really big.
$50,000 big.
And we need your help.
Did you know that February is historically one of the hardest hitting months for hungry families? The holidays are over. Money is tight. Donations dwindle. Food pantries are depleted. Worries run high.
February is a significant time of need.
So, we raise money in December for Food for February.
Throughout the entire month of December, Y-O-U have the opportunity to donate any amount you wish at any of our store registers. Just let the cashier know what you want to give to Family Kitchen and your name will be written on a special Food for February paper plate to be displayed proudly in our store.
We want to fill the walls with plates!
The coolest part? Newport Avenue Market will again match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. Imagine all of the good that $50,000 will do for feeding our community!
Full bellies. Happy smiles. Hope.
In 2013, Family Kitchen served 55,970 meals to residents of Central Oregon. Staffed with over 250 volunteers, they serve three dinners and four lunches each week, averaging over 5,000 meals per month. The need is clear and Family Kitchen has stepped in for the past 28 years to feed the hungry members of our community.
Family Kitchen believes that nobody should ever have to experience hunger. Their mission is to serve nutritious meals to anyone in a safe and caring environment. Guests are only asked to leave with a full stomach.
Please consider donating to Food for February the next time you visit Newport Avenue Market in December. Your gift matters and can make a difference for one, one-hundred, or one-thousand empty stomachs in our community.
We have every confidence that our rock star customers will make our $50,000 goal a reality!
Having worked with Family Kitchen for over ten years and being on the board for four years, I truly know and appreciate all you do for us. A heartfelt thank you.
Happy Holidays
Sandy
