Beer of the Week: Mix and Match Paperback Brewing Singles

This week, Newport Avenue Market’s Beer of the Week comes with wild names, pulp-fiction artwork, and plenty of personality.

Robert and the Brew Crew are featuring a mix-and-match collection of singles from Paperback Brewing Company. The lineup includes Robot Strip Club, Road Rage on the 405, Bunny With a Chainsaw, Satan Wears Pajamas, and Paperback IPA.

Paperback Brewing calls Glendale, California, home. The brewery operates inside a vintage airplane hangar and brings Los Angeles energy to every release. Its colorful cans draw inspiration from vintage paperback novels, comic books, music, and pop culture. As the brewery likes to say, every beer tells a story.

This week, you can build your own Paperback Brewing adventure one can at a time.

Why Robert Recommends Paperback Brewing

Robert chose Paperback Brewing because this collection makes trying something new especially fun. The names and artwork may grab your attention first. However, the beer inside each can gives the packaging some serious competition.

Paperback builds bold IPAs, a balanced red ale, and hop-forward beers with distinct personalities. Therefore, this lineup offers more than five different labels. It gives you five different drinking experiences.

Buying singles also makes exploration easy. You can compare a classic West Coast IPA with a hazy double or triple IPA. Then, you can add a malty red ale for contrast. You do not need to commit to an entire four-pack before discovering your favorite.

Robert recommends building a mixed collection and sharing a tasting with friends. Just make sure someone claims Robot Strip Club before the neighbors start asking questions.

Meet the Paperback Brewing Lineup:

Robot Strip Club

Newport Market Beer of the Week: Robot Strip Club

Robot Strip Club is Paperback Brewing’s cult-favorite hazy triple IPA. At 10.5% ABV, it brings plenty of strength alongside its playful name.

Expect a rich, hazy beer with juicy citrus and tropical fruit character. Mango and pineapple notes lead the way, while resinous hops add depth. It is bold, full-bodied, and deceptively drinkable.

This is the can for experienced IPA fans who enjoy big flavor and an equally big beer. Sip it slowly and let the robot work the room.

Road Rage on the 405

Road Rage on the 405 is a 7.3% West Coast IPA brewed with Citra and Ekuanot hops.

It delivers juicy citrus, tropical fruit, grapefruit zest, mango, and sticky pine aromas. A touch of dank resin adds classic West Coast attitude. Meanwhile, a crisp, bitter finish keeps everything moving.

This is a great choice for drinkers who want a bright, assertive IPA with a clean finish. Fortunately, enjoying it requires no freeway traffic whatsoever.

Bunny With a Chainsaw

Newport Market Beer of the Week: Bunny with a Chainsaw

Bunny With a Chainsaw is a hazy double IPA with 8.2% ABV and 48 IBUs. Paperback brews it with Idaho 7 and Mosaic hops.

The style brings a softer, juicier character than a traditional West Coast IPA. Expect ripe tropical fruit, citrus, and a rounded hop profile. Despite the menacing bunny, the bitterness stays relatively balanced.

Choose this one if you enjoy hazy IPAs with generous fruit character and a bigger body. The bunny may have a chainsaw, but the beer itself is surprisingly cuddly.

Satan Wears Pajamas

Satan Wears Pajamas steps away from the IPA lineup. This 7.1% American red ale offers a malt-forward experience with a firm hop presence.

Expect caramel and toasted malt flavors alongside a dry finish and noticeable bitterness. The deeper malt character makes it a welcome contrast to the brighter, fruitier IPAs in this week’s selection.

This is the can to choose when you want something rich, balanced, and slightly roasty. Apparently, even the Prince of Darkness enjoys comfortable sleepwear.

Paperback IPA

Newport Market Beer of the Week: Paperback IPA

Paperback IPA is the brewery’s classic West Coast IPA. It comes in at 6.5% ABV with 50 IBUs and showcases Mosaic hops.

Mosaic commonly brings layers of citrus, tropical fruit, berry, and pine. In this beer, that hop character meets the crisp body and clean bitterness expected from a West Coast IPA.

If you are new to Paperback Brewing, start here. It offers an approachable introduction to the brewery’s hop-forward style without venturing into double or triple IPA territory.
